7.23.22 Sick
Updated: Oct 15, 2022
Why is mental health such a stigma? Why is it so scary to talk about, so hard to admit? So taboo in society? Mental health is just like any other illness. We are also sick. We are also in tremendous pain. We also visit various specialists and rack up ridiculously high medical bills. The difference is that we don't have bald heads, we aren't in wheelchairs, we don't have any obvious deformities. So we don't get the same compassion, understanding and help that "real" sick people get. You'd fly halfway across the world for the best cancer treatment but for some reason we are expected to compromise on care for mental health, "why don't you just see someone at the clinic." You want the best for a physical illness but you'll compromise on mental health?
